Why electric rim lock and electric strike lock are not suggested to use on access system?

Let's try to understand both electric rim lock and electric strike lock features first!

1, Advantages, disadvantages of electric strike lock and electric rim lock.

1.1 Electric rim lock

1.1.1 Advantages:

It applies to cell gate and interlocking access door of bank saving agency. Power-off model is offered, which means key could be used to open door externally and pressing the mechanical button could open the door when power-off internally.

1.1.2 Disadvantages:

Noisy, crack when unlocking even though there is mute lockset on the market. Heavy impulse current creates a negative effect on the system. Even though “electric lock” (the same appearance) which can control the impulse current appears on the market, low-cost, noisy electric rim lock with heavy impulse current still exists.

2.1 Electric strike lock

2.1.1 Advantages:

Models of power-off closing, a cheap one can be selected. When power is off, the round mechanical lock can be turned on internally or unlocked by a key, which meets firefighting requirements.

2.1.2 Disadvantages:

Magnet coil is made of its inner part, which creates heavy impulse current. Installed on the side of the door, it is hard to wire buried wire if doorframe is not newly installed.  It has such low capacity of anti-damage that the door is easy to kick open.

2, Why electric rim lock and electric strike lock are not suggested to use on access system?

When most electric rim lock and electric strike lock moves, it will create heavy impulse current even up to 3A, which is hard to be tested by a normal multimeter. And the power of the system lower than 12VDC,3-5A can’t stand sudden heavy-current impact, which causes the controller out of power or voltage unstable and CPU crash finally. Even though many products are configured with protection system for CPU crash, all products hardly can radically solve the problem that crash caused by abnormal electric power.  It is also possible to cause an abnormal read of the Flash that stores record and parameter,  and system fault caused( plugging USB flash disk with power when USB flash disk reads data, which make the USB flash disk formatted).

3, If these locks are truly needed, what should be paid attention to?

3.1 External power: an external high power is simply supplied to the lock while the original-installed power supplies to the controller and card reader. And both of the power is connected with each GND.

3.2 Superpower supply:

To buy a super switching power supply (12VDC 12-15A) instead of the original power.
